Bloomington, Indiana lies in the heart of the limestone area in south-central Indiana on State Road 37, 50 miles south of Indianapolis, IN and 98 miles northwest of Louisville, KY. Bloomington, Indiana covers an area of seven square miles. The population is 63,000 and growing...with a population increase of 10% over the last decade.
Electrical and electronic equipment, furniture, and elevators are manufactured. Quarrying and marketing of the limestone abundant in the area has sustained the city's economy for many years.
Bloomington is the seat of Indiana Univ., and its growth is closely related to the development of that institution. In the area are Hoosier National Forest and lakes Monroe (Indiana's largest) and Lemon. Bloomington is the location of the main campus of the Indiana University system attended by about 40,000 students. It is also the seat of the Kinsey Institute. Bloomington is noted for having one of the most beautiful university campuses in the US. Most of the campus buildings are built of Indiana limestone.

Bloomington Indiana is a great town with a lot of things to offer. We are a college town and of course sports are important here, but so are the arts and music. We have fine plays, operas and entertainment.
Monroe County Lake offers, swimming, camping, boating, lodging and fine restaurants. We have an antique mall and many thrift shops.
Many of the attorneys that have graduated from Indiana University Law School have stayed to practice law locally because they fell in love with Bloomington. We have over 9,000 new students coming to town every fall.
We have plenty of night life so if you're looking for a bar or grill, winery, or pub you can find it here; No college town is going to be without a bookstore and we have plenty; We have a first rate hospital and prompt care facilities if you need a doctor; Indiana University Optometry school offers reduced prices and great care if you need an optometrist;
Of course there are many motels and hotels for visiting parents; Great restaurants, and pizza galore; The local music stores offer classes and new and used musical instruments; If you are the outdoor sporting type we have two nearby state parks offer, hiking, nature walks, camping. McCormick's Creek state park has a large swimming pool with life guards.
Oliver Winery is an excellent winery. You can tour their winery, visit the free tasting bar or grab some snacks and sit out by their small lake and watch the birds on a nice day.
